Atwood Talks About False Education Sabbath services at the Laurelbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church on January 16, 2010 beganwith a song service led by Chuckie and Vasti, both seniors, accompanied by Donna Kanna on the piano. Chuckie was in charge of the Sabbath School program. The opening song was “Take My Life and Let It Be”. Vasti had prayer, and Chuckie welcomed everyone. Ron Oxentenko mentioned that mission work is not just going to a foreign field but also helping someone near at home or just smiling and being cheerful around others. In Burundi there were two men, one studying to be a witch doctor and the other studying to be a witch doctor. The witch doctor in training predicted that if the Christian ate things prepared in a certain way. The Christian ate just those things right in front of the witch doctor’s face. Finally, after a night in which the witch doctor tried to find an old Bible, he and his wife became Christians. Eilish (sophomore) and Kenny (9th grader) collected the Laurelbrook Missions Offering.
Chuckie then had a few remarks about forgiveness. When we ask for mercy and love from God, we need to have forgiveness for others. Ellen White says that if we refuse to forgive we won’t obtain pardon either. But we need to hold people accountable. When he went on a mission trip to Haiti to help an orphanage there, the Haitians called them names. Should we help them if they hate Americans so much?
The congregation then broke up into several Sabbath School classes to study the week’s lessons.
The church service proper began with an organ introit by Donna Kanna. Wilbur Atwood had the invocation. Rodney Herra welcomed everyone and made the necessary announcements. Vespers would be at 5:30 in the church.
The congregation sang “All the Way My Saviour Leads Me”. Rodney Herra had the Morning Prayer and called for the offering. Daryll Ellis and Marvin Frey collected the morning offerings. The congregation sang the doxology; Rodney Herra had a prayer for the offering. David (senior) and Donna Kanna sang “The Lord Is My Shepherd” as a duet.
Laura Mae Zollinger then told the children a story about a little girl who lived near Atlanta. She was sick and in the hospital with leukemia. Late on Sunday night, the girl started crying, saying she was scared. She was told about protecting angels around her but didn’t believe in them. The mother asked God to let the girl see angels. The girl started laughing, saying that she was seeing multiple copies of Jesus. The girl went to both sides of the bed and felt something. Then she went to bed and fell into a deep sleep. The Lord stationed His angels right around that bed. When the girl went home, she asked her mother to read to her about Jesus. The Bible texts said that that this sickness was not unto death. A few days later the little girl went to a hospital where they found that the disease had quit.
Wilbur Atwood talked about “Three Unclean Frogs”, the congregation sang “Baptize Us Anew”, and Rodney Herra had the benediction.

Notes on the sermon:
1. Do we have anything to fear about three frogs?
2. Revelation 16:12 “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.”
3. Water has to do with people. This great river deals with the great world population. The kings of the east are Jesus and His Father. When Jesus comes, every person will be extinguished except for the righteous.
4. This great river represents those who have been deceived.
5. Revelation 16:13-14 “13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs [come] out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, [which] go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.”
6. Unclean spirits represent Satan and his hosts. The deceptions used by these devils prepare people to fight against God.
7. Three frogs come out of the mouths of Satan, the papacy, and Protestantism. They all deceive in the same way.
8. Characteristics of frogs – can leap long distances, their tongues that can go out a long way.
9. These three frogs deal with the use of the tongue – papal education using the same system of education being the first.
10. Revelation 13:2 “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.”
11. This beast is the papacy, which is pictured as leopard. The leopard represents Greece, which gained its control through education. This education was so powerful that it corrupted the Jewish faith. By Jesus’ time, this system was so corrupt that the Jewish teachers rejected Christ.
12. Ellen White, In Heavenly Places, p. 313 – the same type of unbelief is taught in all types of schools. Thousands give heed to lying spirits in school.
13. The system of U.S. education is primarily Catholic. The country’s founders didn’t set up a new system.
14. The devil has been able to penetrate even the theological schools today.
15. Ellen White says students should not listen to many of the “great” men of the world as they undermine the statements of the Bible.
16. Adventists having a worldly education then try to undermine the plain statements of the Bible and Ellen White.
17. If our young people are educated by these foolish worldly professors, they will have been educated in delusions.
18. This type of education is sorcery – the first use of the tongue to do this.
19. In the first years of the last century, thousands of Adventist young people were corrupted by this and brought this false thinking into Adventist schools.
20. How can we recognize a papal system of education? First it uses a system of memory. Second it has a competitive grading system pitting one person against another. Three – a proscribed course rather than choice. This is true especially in college. Four – conferring of degrees. Five – exalt man’s ideas or traditions above inspired writings. Six – builds large buildings and large schools. Seven – divorces learning from doing with not practical use of what is learned. This comes from Dr. Sutherland’s book on education.
21. Dr. Sutherland felt that a school using popular methods, half reforms, worked according to their own ideas was very dangerous. This takes students step by step towards worldly education.
22. In Testimonies, Ellen White called the people destroying young people in this way were like an ancient king destroying women and children.
23. Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 536 says we must not take the worldly ideas of education and bring them into our schools, thus bringing sorcery into our schools.
24. Another type of frogs is satanic music.
25. Satan was created a very special musician so he uses music to deceive people (using the tongue).
26. Ellen White was shown that the same scenes as in Indiana would take place before the close of time. This was a time around 1900 when the devil’s music got into the Indiana campmeeting. Shouting, drums, and dancing would be part of it. This would be called the moving of the Holy Spirit.
27. This movement is going full blast today, but the work of God doesn’t need this noise and confusion.
28. The only way to get rid of this is to go way back to get to the pure music.
29. The Wedgewood Trio, the Heritage Singers, and other similar groups have assisted greatly in this trend.
30. Frog 3 is acting and drama, another use of the tongue. Seventh-day Adventists are not to be organizing theatrical performances. These performances are without God, but people accept them as the working of the Holy Spirit. There is, however, no change in the life.
31. Think about these three frogs or organizations being used by Satan to advance his agenda.
32. There are Christians involved in these things who don’t know they are involved in satanic activity. |
